Field Assistant
This is a part-time position for the months of March through October. Primary duties will include all aspects of cut flower production including growing, maintaining, and harvesting of flowers for retail sales, events and wholesale outlets.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and dismantle flower beds
Cultivate and maintain flower beds, including hand weeding, pruning, hoeing, and deadheading
Perform various field tasks such as fertilizing, netting, bucket washing, mulching, and assisting with irrigation and watering
Harvest flower crops promptly, adhering to harvesting protocols and post-harvest treatments
Assist in bunching flowers for wholesale sales
Skills :
Hardworking, energetic, and self-motivated, with a focus on quality and efficiency
Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and ask questions as needed
Passion for providing fresh, local flowers to our customers
Enjoyment of working outdoors in all weather conditions
Flexibility to adapt to changing daily tasks and work both independently and within a team
Physically capable of lifting heavy items, performing repetitive tasks, and being on your feet for extended periods
Schedule :
Approximately 6+ hours per week. Starting at $15/hour during the learning period, with the potential to increase up to $20 /hour depending on experience and learning pace.
Spring schedule
Monday 2pm -7pm
Tuesday 2pm -7pm
Wednesday 2pm -7pm
you can select from the following dates and times that suit your schedule, with a minimum commitment of 6 hours per week. The schedule is flexible. If you are interested, please reach out and we would be happy to discuss options.
Additional hours and days may be available during the busy Spring (May-June and November). Our days are subject to Mother Nature therefore, flexibility is required. Schedule may change to earlier start time during Summer due to extremely hot days, to ensure harvesting is completed in a timely manner.
